A SECOND refugee family has been identified and matched with the Bude Refugee Support Group to come and live in the town.

There is no definite date for arrival yet, but the young parents and children aged four, three and two are expected late January.

The announcement that the group has been granted permission to resettle a second family in Bude came in November, making it the first community sponsorship group in the UK to be approved for this.

It follows on from the charity’s successful resettlement of the first Syrian refugee family earlier in the year, having been approved by the Home Office.

A spokesperson for the group said of the second family: “We’re all really looking forward to meeting them and helping them to become part of this community leaving behind a life of fear, hunger and no hope.”
