AHEAD of the big event, the Launceston carnival committee has launched their search for the town’s 2016 carnival royalty.

The choosing ceremony will take place in the White Hart Hotel Ballroom on Friday, July 22, at 6.30pm.

The carnival royalty competition will see the three lucky winners receiving trophies, presentation salvers, dress allowances and flowers.

This year the committee is seeking candidates for senior queen, senior queen attendant and carnival princess.

Entry forms are available now from the carnival website www.launceston-carnival.co.uk or from Launceston Tourist Information Centre in the White Hart Arcade, or contact Lisa Gordon on 07759 201490.

Carnival chairman Dave Gordon told the Post: “Last year we had a tremendous response to our Royalty competition & we hope we will get a similar response again this year”.

Members of the carnival committee will be attending the Victorian Market later this month, and will happily answer questions about the royalty search, or the parade itself, which will be on October 8.
