"Launceston College has the best Marine Challenge club in the West Country and that's official," said a spokesperson for the school.

The school has won more first places and prizes than any other school. Students in Year 12 and 13 have helped to design and build a number of craft to specific requirements. The range of boats includes; solar craft, rechargeable battery powered machines and internal combustion powered craft.

This work has proved to be very important for students who have worked on this challenge. Past Marine Challenge students include Felix Sampson and David Cobbledick both now studying Engineering at Cambridge and Nathan Parsons studying Engineering at Warwick University.

Year 12 and 13 students are welcome to attend Marine Challenge meetings on Monday after school.
