‘TEAM St Stephens’ demonstrated their value of ‘Advocacy for Children’s Rights’ by wearing the colours of the Ukrainian flag on March 18 to show their humanitarian support.
For several weeks the school has been talking about what it must be like for millions of children and their families having to leave the place they love and make a difficult journey to find a new safe home.
As a UNICEF Silver Rights school they know that all children have the right to live in a world without war, to be safe and protected and to have enough to eat and drink. The money that they donated — almost £200 so far — will be sent to the UNICEF Ukrainian Appeal.
Headteacher Maura Furber said: “Thank you to all our wonderful families for their generous support today and over the past few weeks donating clothing, sleeping equipment, toiletries and baby items.
“We are incredibly proud of our kind and compassionate pupils that have demonstrated respect and responsibility for the world they are growing up in by these heartfelt and considerate gestures.”
