AN organisational restructure is planned to take place at Launceston General Hospital, commencing October/November, which will see the transfer of NHS operated, Adult Community Health Services to a social enterprise.

With current discussions about a reform of the NHS and the abolishment of the government's White Paper document 'Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS', there has been reported "scaremongering" amongst people that this is a step towards privatisation of the NHS.

The conveyance of the Adult Community?Health Services is part of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Community Health Services, which provides a 'wide range of quality community health services for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly residents.'

These services include health visitors and district nurses, speech and language therapists and children's services, as well as providing care in 14 community hospitals around Cornwall, including Launceston.
