IN LESS than a month's time, Sarah Goodwin will be swapping her daily life in Launceston for a remarkable journey through South India, travelling some 2,000km, driving a Hindustan Ambassador.

Describing her trip, Sarah said: "This is no mean feat as we'll be travelling through challenging terrain, driving a vehicle that handles like a drunken badger!

"Indian roads, and the Indian drivers, are treacherous! India has the unenviable reputation of having the highest number of road fatalities caused by dangerous driving — more than 100,000 people a year!

"At the tail end of the monsoon, a lot of the smaller roads will barely exist and there's a section of at least 36 infamous hairpin bends."

Sarah is embarking on her Indian adventure to raise funds for Adventure Ashram (http://www.adventureashram.org">www.adventureashram.org), a small but very effective registered UK charity that supports several projects run in India, specifically to improve the health and education of some of the poorest children there.
