THE Launceston Santa Run took place at Coronation Park last Sunday morning and saw 62 entries for the festive Christmas run, jog or walk over an approximate 3k course.

Despite the very windy conditions on the day, event organiser Dave Gordon, in consultation with the event safety officer, decided to proceed with the event.

Dave said: “We naturally had concerns about the entrants’ safety on the morning, but after deciding to go ahead with the event, it was proved we made the correct decision.

“It was great to see families and friends join in the festive event with everyone really enjoying the morning.”

All finishing entrants received a Santa medal for taking part, as well as all children receiving a gift, which was generously sponsored by Launceston Youth Council. The first runner back was 14-year-old Aaron Mostaeddi for the second year running.

Dave wishes to thank everyone that took part, along with thanks to members of the Launceston Voluntary First Aid Service and members of Launceston Lions for marshalling the 3k course.
