CHILDREN’S Hospice South West’s ‘Santas on the Run’ event will be making its Holsworthy debut this year.

The charity expressed its ‘delight’ in announcing that its much-loved event will come to the town for the first time this December.

The charity was invited to bring its traditional fundraising run to the town by Holsworthy’s mayor, Cllr Jon Hutchings. The run will form part of the Christmas Lights Switch On and re-launch of late night Christmas shopping, on Friday, December 2.

Cllr Hutchings said: “This is such a fun event and we’re thrilled that it will form part of our Christmas celebrations, starting at 5pm.

“As the first Santa Run for Children’s Hospice South West in Holsworthy, I’m hoping that the local community will really help to support it and make it a fantastic event.”

Santas on the Run is a 2k fun run that is suitable for the whole family. You can walk, jog or run the course starting in the square, taking you on a route through Stanhope Park and back to join in the festivities in the Square.

As 2016 marks the charity’s 25th anniversary participants are encouraged to ‘silver up’ their Santa suits. There will be a prize up for grabs, the more silver the better!

The event will kick off at 6.30pm on December 2. Priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for children (aged over three), with a family ticket for £37.50, which includes a Santa suit and a special 25th CHSW anniversary commemorative medal. Sign up before October 3, for early bird discount.
