CAMELFORD Young Farmers' Club came out on top with a winning cubicle at the show.

With a Rugby World Cup theme, Camelford's entry was Samoa.

Second place was Praze (New Zealand) and third went to Callington (Italian Republic).

Camelford YFC member Jenni Carthew said: "We have been really successful and we are really pleased. We haven't come first for quite a few years. We are surprised but glad."

County chairman William Jelbert said: "It's probably our biggest event of the year, apart from the rally, and it's something we all look forward to.

"A lot of hours have gone in from all of the clubs and it is much appreciated by the county staff.

"At the show we are just getting the name of Young Farmers out and showing we do a lot of work for charity — my charity this year is Children's Hospice South West.

"We are just trying to promote what we do and attract new members — there are 750 members now." For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
