BUDE Cornwall Councillor, Nigel Pearce, is keen to talk to anyone including parents and cyclists who are interested in joining the safer cycling and walking to school initiative.

Cllr Pearce said: “Last year I asked the Highways department at Cornwall Council to look at ways to improve the safety of children going to school.”

Grants are available nationally for cycling and walking to school initiatives as long as they are supported locally.

Cllr Pearce continued: “I believe better design can make a big improvement for children’s health and safety and please contact me at [email protected] for more information.

Cllr Pearce also supports a stage of the Tour of Britain coming to Cornwall in 2020, which will be funded 95% out of private money.

He said: “Our young people can be inspired by today’s professional cyclists who were themselves motivated in the past to get on their bikes and strive for excellence, making Britain lead the world of professional cycling as well as the benefits to tourism this event can bring to Cornwall.”
