RESIDENTS at Altarnun, Five Lanes and Trewint are campaigning to save their bus service — the 225 and 223 from Altarnun to Launceston and have formed an action group called the '225 Action Group.'

This follows the reduction in central Government Concessionary Travel funding from 75 per cent to 50 per cent.

Cornwall Council is in the process of reviewing the bus network cost, with the looming questions how are they going deliver an effective bus service with a reduced budget?

The proposed changes could have a greater impact on rural bus routes. At the beginning of the month the '225 Action Group" lead by Rachel Cole (Five Lanes) and Maureen Stayt (Altarnun) along with Mo Juby (Trewint),Carol Karohne (Altarnun) Bill Tipton (Altarnun) Pam Sandercock (Altarnun) and Simon Holmes (Five Lanes) sent letters to the Prime Minister, the MP and their Cornwall Councillor Phil Parsons.
