THE Marie Curie collection at Tesco proved to be a great success on Saturday, February 27.
The customers coming in and out of Tesco proved to be very generous, although the amount raised will not be finalised for a few weeks yet.
Sharon Horsington — who volunteered from 11am to 1pm — was confident that the donation pots were weighing heavy by the end of the day.
She said people were more than happy to donate, and it gave them a chance to share their Marie Curie stories.
Overall, the day was ‘busy and easy’ according to Sharon, and with the help of trustworthy companion Rudi the dog, who had a donation pot either side of him and proved to be a great attraction, particularly to the children, the donations kept on coming.
Sharon also hopes to take part in a ‘Wing Walk’ for a Parkinson’s charity, and may consider doing more. She said: “We’re all busy and I realised I don’t do a lot for the world. I thought giving up a couple of hours of my time was the least I could do, and it was a chance for me to do something for charity.”
