A DOG stranded on a cliff ledge near Bude for two nights has been rescued by the RSPCA.

Fox, a 13-year-old Collie Cross had reacted aggressively on Wednesday, February 18 when a coastguard team tried to rescue it from a cliff ledge at Marsland Mouth.

The owner, Jane Ravine, told the RSPCA that Fox was nervous around men, so a female inspector was sent down the cliff together with a male colleague.

An RSPCA spokesperson said six officers were involved with the rescue and added: "The dog was curled up in a cave area, It was not injured and was very pleased to see them. The inspectors gave him food and drink and were able to put him on a lead before putting him in an animal bag to heave up to the top.

'VERY SKILLED'

"The rescue finished around 3.15pm and the owner took the dog straight home and says he is fine."

Fox's owner, Jane, said: "I am just so pleased that he is okay and back home. I have so much respect for the RSPCA officers.

"They did a brilliant job, were very skilled and were also really nice to me when I was incredibly worried, so I cannot thank them enough for everything."
