'BENEFIT OF ALL'

The canal regeneration project has taken eleven years to reach this point.

Bude canal has been undergoing a £5-million facelift which to improve the canal for the benefit of all, says NCDC.

The Bude Canal Regeneration Project — a partnership formed by many different organisations including Bude and Stratton Town Council, Bude Canal and Harbour Society, the Environment Agency, Marhamchurch Parish Council, Pancrasweek Parish Council, South West Water, and Cornwall County Council — aimed to restore the first two miles of the canal from the sea lock at the Breakwater near Summerleaze beach to Helebridge.

The works included towpath improvements, dredging, lock gate restoration, the creation of a canal interpretation centre, workshops, office space and much more.
