LAUNCESTON Rotary Community Shop has just passed £100,000 in receipts during its existence. The idea for a pop up shop came from Rotarian Peter Casey and Ray Ripley after they visited Barnstaple Community Shop three years ago. The Launceston Rotary Club approached Kivells and was offered 5-7 Southgate Street as a pop up shop, which opened its doors in August 2011 for nine weeks and raised £12,500. The club presented its first donations from the money raised to organisations from the area in September 2011 and looked for another premises. In April 2012 the Rotary Community Shop opened in 4 Southgate Street and has been there since. To celebrate the £100,000 achievement, the club has dressed the shop windows.
