THE Launceston Rotary Community Shop has lent its support to another local organisation.
It was approached by the Access Theatre Company with an application for financial help, which the shop was happy to accept for the requested sum of £250.
Access Theatre Company is a charity registered to offer education, facilities and experience in the arts to local adults with learning difficulties.
The organisation, run by Sarah Pym with the help of volunteers, has about 15 members, who are all very keen and enthusiastic about getting to know how the theatre works and to participate in theatre.
Having met them all and presented the cheque, Rotarian Dennis Howson was asked to stay on and watch rehearsals for their forthcoming project to be shown in the Launceston Town Hall on Monday, December 18 this year. Dennis said: “This is The Wizard of Oz no less and, watching their rehearsals, they seem to be doing a remarkable job. Fortunately they did not ask me to join in!
“I found this experience wonderful and very rewarding and congratulate Sarah and her colleagues.”
