A PHOTOGRAPHIC competition being run by Holsworthy Rotary Club is encouraging amateur photographers to get out their cameras and snap some snazzy shots.
The town’s Rotary Club wanted to set up a competition that was ‘open to all’ amateur photographers so that a display of their talents could be created in the Memorial Hall. The theme is ‘Work, Rest or Play’ and there is £600 worth of prizes up for grabs — so why not get out there, get creative and enter this unique competition.
Although this competition is being run by the ‘Holsworthy’ Rotary Club it is open to all and members hope to receive submissions from further afield. Rotarian Ian Parker said: “This is an open competition, open to all, anything goes, no restrictions.
“We hope to have entries from Bideford, Hatherleigh, Bude, Launceston but a lot from the Holsworthy catchment area.”
There are three main categories: ‘Junior’ for ages 12 or under, ‘Intermediate’ 13 to 16 years of age, and ‘Adult’ 16 and over.
First prize winners from each category will received an incredible £75, second prize £50 and third £25.
The competition will be judged by locally renowned photographers Rodney [Paparazzi] Parrish and Dawn Bewes as well as Rotary Club members. There will also be a sponsors’ category with a prize pool of £150.
An exhibition of some of the wonderful submissions will be held at the Memorial Hall on September 26, starting at 7pm, with a view of potentially creating a calendar from some of the best/winning entries.
The competition opened on July 1 and will run until September 14, so don’t delay.
Entries can be made to: Rotary Club of Holsworthy, Photographic competition, C/O Woolacotts, The Square, Holsworthy, Devon, EX22 6DL
All photographs submitted must have been taken after January 2017 and be accompanied by an entry form.
