The Rotary Club of Bude has built a key new facility at Corey’s Farm to support the important work being done there.

Corey’s Farm is a charity that offers animal-assisted and nature-based therapies, activities and education to children and young people with complex emotional needs and/or physical challenges. It supports them in developing new levels of confidence and self-esteem, helping them to feel valued and connected. It also offers advice and some respite to the families and carers of these youngsters.

Established several years ago by Holli and Eggy Alway, the charity’s work is based on a smallholding between Kilkhampton and Bradworthy. The Rotary Club of Bude has now built a vital resource space, the John Oke Cabin, on the site to support this valuable work. John Oke, the project organiser, and a number of his colleagues in the club brought a range of building skills to the work over the last few months and the cabin was recently completed and handed over. It will enable children to be taught and to develop in a quiet and friendly environment on a one-to-one or small group basis. The Rotary Club of Bude supported the initiative with funding of £2,000.

Holli and Eggy Alway said “On behalf of us all at Corey’s Farm we are so grateful to John Oke and the Bude Rotarians for the supply and build of the John Oke Cabin. This will provide a vital resource space for children attending Corey’s Farm for animal and sensory therapy.”

Rob Cox, president of the Rotary Club of Bude, said: “I and my colleagues are very pleased to have funded and built such a worthwhile addition to the facilities at Corey’s Farm. This has given us a huge amount of satisfaction and we hope that many children will benefit from it in years to come. We wish Holli and Eggy every success in their important work.”
