LAUNCESTON Rotary Club was approached by Bill Roberts, a well-known resident of the town, to ask whether the club could sponsor Launceston Municipal Charity, which exists to give money to about 20 needy people living within the town at Christmas.
The Rotary Community Shop was happy to donate £250. Details of this charity are on the walls of St Mary’s Church Choir Vestry.
The rotary club was also able to donate £250 to a second ancient charity looked after by Mr Roberts, called The Launceston Eventide Trust.
Mr Roberts explained that this is a Wednesday Foot Clinic, which helps needy citizens living within the town by subsidising the patients.
The rotary club expressed its thanks to Mr Roberts and friends for the continued maintenance of such interesting local, social customs.
