THE Rotary Club of Launceston’s community shop has lent its support to a new cancer support group for the town.

The Macmillan Nursing Organisation is starting up a unit in Launceston, which will be called the Launceston Group Macmillan Cancer Support, and the group leader is Jacki Ellis-Martin, a local lady who is well-known for her interest in public work and helping others.

Jacki asked the Rotary Community Shop for some financial help to purchase a Launceston specific banner, a gazebo for outside events together with other promotional leaflets for awareness and with a list of services available to cancer patients. The shop was able to help with a cheque for £250.

Rotary Community Shop manager, Dennis Howson, presented the cheque to Jacki Ellis-Martin, who confirmed that it would be put to very good use.

Jacki also asked that anyone who could assist in the formation and work of this group to contact her on 01566 774902.
