MEMBERS of Holsworthy Rotary Club have been helping to raise money to provide basic schooling equipment for children in Africa.
Members Richard Tappin and Phil Sluggett have been raising funds over the last year for the charity, ‘School in a bag’. The charity provides children in Africa who have schools, but no educational resources with a satchel containing pens, pencils, rulers and books of writing paper. It has been supported by a number of the primary schools in the Holsworthy area.
A successful charity lunch, organised and delivered at Coles Mill by Phil, Richard and their families, raised enough funds for at least 53 bags.
A Rotary spokesperson said: “The cold buffet, sweets and drinks were much appreciated by Rotarians and their guests. After a rainy start to the morning the weather improved to allow the dining to take place outdoors and a good time was had by all.”
