BUDDING surf lifesavers will be able to improve their water skills thanks to new boards from Camelford Rotary Club.
Members of Tintagel Surf Life Saving Club’s Nipper group were presented with new boards by Camelford Rotary Club at one of its recent Friday night meetings.
The Nippers demonstrated their water skills and the evening finished with a barbecue.
Club chairman Les Freke said: “We are very grateful for the support from the Rotary Club. With a group of 40 Nippers the additional boards will help us develop the children’s water skills.
“The Surf Life Saving Clubs of North Cornwall provide valuable training in rescue and resuscitation and many of the professional guards employed on the beaches started as Nippers and Juniors with them.”
Tintagel Surf Life Saving Club celebrated 50 years of serving the community in 2014 and over that period its members carried out 308 rescues as volunteers on the beach at Trebarwith.
