LAUNCESTON Rotarian Lawson Ham has returned from Kosova after delivering equipment in the war ravaged country.
The team of nine transported two 'elderly' fire engines and 200 computers, as well as clothing, and more was sourced in the UK where it was no longer required.
The fire engines had been donated by Neil Battersby from Redruth. Until recently Neil ran a charity named 'Action Water' supplying water tankers to various parts of Africa to help with the provision of safe drinking water. He decided to retire from business and the charity world and donated his two Bedford water carriers to the Rotary Overseas Project Team.
The 150 computers were donated by organisations that were upgrading their computer systems. Half of these were from Launceston College, while some were from local businesses and others were purchased by Rotary.
The convoy set off from the storage facility of the Rotary District 1290 Overseas Project Team, near Liskeard, just before midnight on September 26 and drove to Dover, where a ferry took the team to Dunkirk, and then drove to Ghent for an overnight stop.
