REV Steve Wild, chair of the Cornwall Methodist District, recently led a service at Wesley Cottage, Altarnun, dedicating the newly redeveloped rooms.

Steve preached on the story of the wise and foolish builders, and expressed thanks to all those who had helped with the first phase of the development work.

Reading and leading prayers were Rev Malcolm Jones, the superintendent minister of the Launceston area circuit, Rev Doreen Sparey-Delacassa, the superintendent minister of the Camelford and Week St Mary circuit, and local minister Rev Jo Smart.

The work undertaken so far has provided an open plan upstairs room, creating both a well equipped meeting space for study days and a museum and visitor centre.

As part of the development, display panels are now in place, introducing John Wesley and telling the story of the Methodist preachers coming to Cornwall in 1743.

It is hoped the final phase of the development will take place this winter, providing upgraded kitchen and toilet facilities.

Wesley Cottage closed at the end of October, but tours can be arranged throughout the winter by appointment. Complimentary light refreshments are available.
