A NEW landlady has taken over The Crown Inn in Coalway.
The popular Forest pub will be managed by Robyn Peters, assisted by her daughter Tammy, and both have new ideas to try out on the venue.
Plans are already in hand for a summer fair to be held in and around the pub, while they are also looking at setting up medieval-style banquets, with entertainment.
Robyn told the Review: "Taking on The Crown has all come as something of a rush, but we are coping well.
"It's an exciting challenge, though the outgoing landlady Rosie will be a hard act to follow.
She added: "I'm hoping that we can expand the child friendly aspects of the place, including a small, safe, play area in the garden for them."
•The first public event that Robyn and her staff are hosting will be the June meeting of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Earth Mysteries Group tomorrow (Thursday, June 4).
The meeting starts at 7.30pm, and will feature a book swap and sale of esoteric and related titles, a talk on the forthcoming Summer Solstice on June 21, and a look at plans for their Lammas, autumn equinox and Samhain (hallowe'en) celebrations, planned for later on in the year.
The group is supported by the Wyedean Pagan and Wican Society. Details and directions are available on 0776 531 4223.
