A STRETCH of road in Launceston’s town centre is set to close to drivers as roadworks get underway.

From February 5 to 9, the town’s Southgate Street and Broad Street are pencilled for closure to allow for works being executed on the road to supply a new water connection.

Between the hours of 7pm and 7am the prohibition will be in force.

The length of the closure stretches from Western Road, ‘between the junctions of Dockey and Castle Dyke, Broad Street, between the junctions of Castle Dyke and Church Street and Southgate Street, Launceston between the junctions of Broad Street and Angel Hill.’

Drivers looking to traverse the town during the closure will instead be directed along a diversion.

The route will see motorists to the west of the closure travel along St Thomas Road, before turning onto Dockacre Road (A388) and following it round until reaching Exeter Street and heading back towards the town centre.
