THE Port Isaac RNLI’s official 2019 London Marathon team are preparing themselves to run 26.2 miles to raise £10,000 towards the £52,000 required to purchase a new D Class lifeboat to replace the stations existing boat.

The team consists of four runners; Greg Hingley, Clair Johnson and Carol and Richard Hambly.

The team held a new year training/fundraising run in support of the station’s current aim, which is to further an extension of the Port Isaac RNLI Lifeboat Appeal to cover funding for the new lifeboat’s equipment, operational costs and premises — due to enter service in September this year.

Since forming the team and being accepted by RNLI HQ as official representatives for the London Marathon, due to take place in April, so far generous donations have totalled £3,167.

Further fundraising events will be staged — with the first to take place being a Race Night at Port Isaac Village Hall, on Saturday, February 23, with the first racing starting off at approximately 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Donations can be made through the Port Isaac Lifeboat Appeal 2019 Virgin London Marathon page.
