A RECENTLY formed handbell group has met with another group to join in with a weekly practice — and have been encouraged to try its first public performance soon.
Tintagel Handbell Ringers — still with no official group name — followed up their inaugural meeting and demonstration of the art of handbell ringing by Cathy and Peter Glaser of St Breward Handbell Ringers in July, with a visit last week to St Breward Church to hear and perform with St Breward Handbell Ringers.
The St Breward ringers are busy practising their Christmas repertoire for festive performances and the Tintagel members were given the opportunity to try some Christmas carol tunes with St Breward joining in and hopefully Tintagel members were encouraged to try their first public performance soon — maybe in time for Christmas.
Mr Glaser said: “The meeting went very well although it was an interesting exercise in logistics to gather more than the normal number of ringers around the table and all in sight of the music.
“Hopefully, there will be further opportunity to meet up again, and maybe both teams attempt a piece together as full teams!”
