THE Riding for the Disabled (RDA) North Cornwall Group is busier than ever with classes for people of all ages ranging, at present, from four to sixty.

The club is based at the Lakefield Equestrian Centre near Camelford Station.

One of the major issues for the RDA in North Cornwall, has been the installation of a sophisticated lift mechanism to enable riders to be mounted safely onto their horses, whilst ensuring their dignity remains intact.

The past year has seen an increase in fundraising activity as the group needed to find over £11,000 to cover the cost of the lift. Events held include a barn dance, race night, summer barbecue and pub quizzes, whilst the instructors and volunteers have been 'out on the road' speaking to organisations like Wadebridge Rotary Club to raise awareness of the valuable work being undertaken by the RDA.
