THE East Cornwall Hunt has been holding a meet on Boxing Day at Jamaica Inn for the past 150 years and this year was no exception.
A good turnout of spectators came to support the riders and were rewarded with nibbles served by Jamaica Inn staff.
Honorary secretary Mrs Mary Martyn said: “The East Cornwall Hunt once again met at Jamaica Inn and was very well supported by a good number of spectators. I think rider numbers were down slightly this year, but that was to be expected as the weather forecast really was quite poor — the weather did turn foul once the riders left.
“However, despite the weather the hunt had a good day and the hounds followed the pre-laid trails really well.”
During the meet hunt master Graham Higgins lead spectators and riders in a rendition of ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ before thanking everyone for their support.
He said: “This hunt has been meeting here at Jamaica Inn for 150 years, and we are always grateful for your support.”
The procession of 30 riders set off at 11.30am on the dot and continued onto Bodmin Moor.
