SPIRITS were lift at St Breward's annual Sunday service which celebrates the revel.
The ceremony is always eagerly anticipated and much enjoyed and this year was no exception. The presence of the St Breward Silver Band, recently reformed, lifted the spirits immediately with their wonderful rendition of favourite hymns, sung to familiar tunes.
Other village organisations also played their part, including Christine Woolf, award winning author and past president of the village WI (women's institute), reading two of her specially written poems.
This was followed by several of the St Breward Guides, accompanied by their new leader, reading about the origins of the village's saint St Branwalader's birthday and birthday candles.
Lee Brattle from the St Breward Methodists demonstrated her amazing skills on the tambourine, the joint Cluster Choir sang two items and carnival president and history group member Trevor Ternouth, known as 'The Boy from St Breward', spoke of his memories of past Revel Sundays.
