COUNCILLORS at Camelford Town Council’s meeting on Tuesday, May 21 made a number of resolutions.
The first of which was to agree to pay out £400 for the repair of the town’s zip wire which is in need of urgent repair.
It was noted that it would cost £10,000 for a new one but just £400 to repair.
Cllr Stephen Bond said: “We definitely don’t have 10k to spend on it but I’m more than happy to give £400 as it gets so much use.”
Cllr Bond proposed to give £400 for the repair with Cllr Ayla Ackroyd-Johnson seconding it. All the councillors present were in favour.
The next item was to resolve that the Camelford Memory Cafe would benefit from the ‘slip n’ slide’ event at the town’s Four Days of Fun, which took place from May 30 to June 2.
Cllr Bond asked how the memory cafe was chosen to which mayor Claire Hewlett responded: “It’s a different one each year.” Cllr Bond replied: “I see, that’s fine.”
Cllr Hewlett then proposed that was the case with Cllr Lauren Rathbone seconding. The vote was unanimous.
Once the Annual Governance Statements were read out by Cllr Hewlett, the councillors were then asked to choose the utility provider for the library, which was quickly decided to go for the 24-month green Positive Energy option.
Cllr Aaron Scawn proposed with Cllr Rathbone seconding.
Other resolutions which were passed were to start a six-week Regulation 14 Pre-submission on May 30 (Neighbourhood Development Plan), which will see a draft being available on the town council website and in the library, to accept a quotation for £175 from SeaDog IT to create a Camelford NDP public review surgery on website and to buy display boards from Maler Hayley.
