POLICE are urging anyone with knowledge of door-to-door sellers in the Launceston, Bude or Holsworthy areas in the last few weeks to contact them.

It is after a burglary at a property in Boyton on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 15.

Police said a man let himself into an elderly resident’s home and when challenged by the occupants continued to search through bedroom drawers before leaving.

The male, who police said had previously called at the house some days before, purported to be carry out some form of canvassing, and was possibly carrying a clipboard and or holdall.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police quoting reference CR/017087/16.

DC Page said: “Please remember to be vigilant when dealing with door to door sellers. Always ask to see ID — any genuine seller will be happy to show you identification.

“Remember that if you are not satisfied with a seller’s ID or if they make you feel uncomfortable in any way you have every right to ask them to leave.”

He added: “Please also remember to keep doors locked to prevent people inviting themselves into your home. Any suspicious sellers should be reported to police.”
