A PLANNING application for the construction of a replacement dwelling, namely a two-storey building in Trethevy, Tintagel, has triggered objection from residents of the village.

Plans have been submitted by Mr and Mrs Glover from Rutland, to Cornwall Council to demolish the current bungalow at Catscradle, Trethevy, and replace it with a two-storey property.

As a result of the proposal, nearby residents have expressed their concern against it as it will remove or interrupt their coastal view of outstanding natural beauty.

Numerous properties have been developed and modified in Trethevy over the years, but have remained as one-storey developments in keeping with the height of one another.

Resident Stan Turner explained to the 'Post' that the small hamlet was built around 1923 and although the original structures were temporary, they have lasted for a significant amount of years. In a covenant set out when they were first erected, it stated that they must remain as bungalows, but over time the properties were sold and laws have changed.
