A GROUP of residents from Woburn, Hendra Vale, Dunheved Fields and Trevallyn Road, Launceston, hope to form a residents' association to try to prevent Cornwall Council from building on the amenity land at Woburn Road.

Although Cornwall Council had the planning application for five houses withdrawn recently, one of the residents has allegedly been informed by a member of the council that they intend to put in another application later in the year.

This would mean that all objections raised in response to the first application would now all be void.

The residents have decided to form an association in an attempt to safeguard the future of the land.

One resident explained that if an association was formed, it would enable the residents to have a larger voice on issues such as this. There would also be the possibility of registering this as amenity land, thereby preventing any building work being undertaken.

There is a meeting organised for Friday, June 3 in St Mary's Church Hall at 7pm.

A spokesperson said: "The organisers would like to invite any resident who resides in Woburn or any of the above areas, that would be interested in saving this amenity land for our future, to attend and if necessary, voice their opinion on how best this can be achieved."
