RESIDENTS of Breakwater Road in Bude have uncovered original Victorian stonework, following a deep clean of the wall opposite their homes.
A team of residents clubbed together to pay for specialists to clear the rampant ivy and brambles from much of the canalside wall along the road, which is maintained by Cornwall Council.
A spokesperson for the Save Breakwater Road Steering Group said: "Some sectors are still vegetated, but hopefully the property owners fronting those sectors will follow suit.
"The whole of Breakwater Road now looks more attractive and cared for.
"The wall's lovely historic, Victorian stonework, previously completely concealed, is now largely exposed, approaching its former glory for the enjoyment of the many pedestrians, both Bude locals and tourists, strolling in Breakwater Road and on the pathway on the opposite side of the canal."
