Woburn Residents’ Association of Launceston was delighted to be able to hand over a cheque for £250 to the Cornwall Blood Bikes.
The Association recently held a cream tea event on the green and donated the money to the Blood Bikes group.
The bikers are a group of self-funded volunteers who provide a free ‘out of hours’ delivery service by arrangement with the NHS throughout and beyond.
The charity is totally reliant on donations to deliver and collect blood, pathology samples and medication to locations throughout the county and all the riders are qualified advanced motorcyclists and have each undergone an assessment of their riding skills.
It is sometimes necessary for them to travel as far as Bristol to bring essential medication to people in need in the local area. The Woburn Residents’ Association felt it a very worthwhile charity to support.
