ST LAWRENCE Church, in Sheepwash, was the venue for a concert of ‘Songs from the Shows’, sung by local resident Debbie Flint, in company with Devon County Councillor Barry Parsons on August 22.

The audience, in a nearly full church, were treated to a host of very familiar songs, and had the opportunity to join in with many.

During the interval, Debbie invited all present to tea, coffee and cakes at her tearooms just 50 metres down the road, in Sheepwash Square, which usually opens from 11am till 4pm on Wednesdays each week.

The atmosphere during the show was fantastic and, judging by the enthusiastic comments made, everyone had a great time.

Debbie and Barry agreed to sing the concert to support the Friends of St Lawrence Church in their efforts to raise funds for re-roofing the church and tower. The main roof is completed, leaving the tower to be tackled next year. The costs involved total nearly £120,000. After grants and fundraisers, around £17,000 still needs to be raised.

Debbie and Barrie have agreed to do another concert, this time with a Christmas theme, on Tuesday, December 11, again at St Lawrence Church.
