BUDE Coastguard Rescue Team were paged just before 6.30pm on Monday, October 2 and tasked to Bude Holiday Resort, following a request from the Coastguard Operations Centre (CGOC) in Falmouth to set up and manage a helicopter landing site (HLS) for Rescue 924, the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter based in Newquay.
Rescue 924 had been scrambled, following a request by paramedics already on scene to airlift a sick female to hospital from the holiday park.
Upon arrival, Bude Coastguard Rescue Team deployed to create an HLS just as Rescue 924 made its final approach, making sure all members of the public were at a safe distance. Once the helicopter had landed, the paramedic from Rescue 924 and members of Bude CRT made their way to the lady’s position, and, with the help of the paramedics on scene, transferred her onto the helicopter’s stretcher, and back on to the ambulance. The ambulance was then escorted by Bude CRT to the landing site.
Once at the helicopter landing site, members of the team and the paramedics stretcher carried the lady on board the awaiting helicopter.
Once she was safely on board, the team from Bude then left the helicopter and returned to their helicopter landing site positions. Rescue 924 subsequently departed the scene safely, and the team were thereafter stood down at 8pm.
