REPAIR Cafe Bude is set to celebrate its first birthday in February.

Repair Cafe Bude, which runs monthly gatherings at the Neetside Community Centre to welcome local people with items to be fixed rather than being thrown out to landfill, will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday, February 15. This also coincides with ‘The Big Fix 2020’, a national initiative which will see UK repair cafes opening on the same day to celebrate and publicise the work being done to help reduce waste and share skills.

The repair cafe idea is simple — they welcome volunteers and people with a range of skill sets to look at people’s items and determine whether they can fix it, before it is thrown out. Repair Cafe Bude welcomes electricians, sewing bees and all-round-handy-people to fix items such as hoovers, toasters, a zip on a pair of jeans and much more.

Repair Cafe Bude will celebrate its first birthday, and take part in The Big Fix 2020, on Saturday, February 15 at Neetside Community Centre in Bude from 10am to 12pm. The next Repair Cafe Bude sessions will be January 25, February 15, March 28, April 25, May 30, June 27 and July 25.
