EVERYONE was welcomed by the Rev Derryn Roberts to St David’s Church in Davidstow on Sunday, at 3pm, to remember those that gave their lives from both the First and Second World Wars, writes Helen Pusey.

Names were read out from the memorial stone by the churchwarden, Bill Pearce.

The Royal British Legion Standard flag was lowered by standard-bearer Phil Williams, of the Camelford Branch.

The Last Post was played beautifully by bugler Lisa Hannah, of Bodmin Town Band, who had also played at the church last year.

Wreaths were laid by Davidstow Parish Council, Royal British Legion, Camelford Branch, RAF Davidstow Moor Memorial Museum, Davidstow Moor and Cornwall at War Museum, St David’s Church, Davidstow, Tremail Methodist Church and Dairy Crest, Davidstow.

Two minutes’ silence was observed on this dry, bright sunny afternoon then the Standard was raised and the Reveille played.

The ‘Lord’s Prayer’ and a further blessing were read ahead of the National Anthem being sung before proceeding into the church for a service of Remembrance.
