THE annual picnic and train ride for Launceston Railway Circle at the town's steam railway started with a special slate plaque unveiling. The plaque, to commemorate the life of Lloyd Goodman, founder of the railway circle and a local railway historian, was unveiled by his wife, Diana, on July 11. Mr Goodman was a life member and a past president of the railway circle and the plaque is next to the circle's 30-year anniversary plaque unveiled by Mr Goodman and Gerald Geake. Railway circle president Russell Pollinger said he felt 'honoured and proud' to be there. He added: "If it were not for Lloyd Goodman and Gerald Geake, for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm with a few others we would not be here this evening."
