ON SUNDAY afternoon, police were called to Widemouth Bay, following a report that suspected human remains had been found on the beach by a member of public.
A co-ordinated search was carried out in the area, using methods involving police officers, search dogs, police helicopters, coastguard search teams and the RNLI.
Several parts were recovered from the beach, and were later examined by Scenes of Crime Officers and a local GP. After meticulous examination the parts recovered were not deemed human, and are now believed to be the remains of a seal.
