VISITORS to this year’s show may have noticed a bit of a change in the WI tent.
There were no judges, no trophies, no point sheets — just tables for people to sit at and join in with some traditional WI crafts.
Explaining the reason for the change WI show tent secretary and Bude WI member Heather Stephenson told the Post: “We always take it in turns to ‘run’ the tent and we decided it was time for a bit of a change.
“The WI isn’t all about competition so we thought, why not take this opportunity to show how we all work together. Each WI agreed to take an aspect of WI life and represent it with their stand. There is no competition, we are just showing off what the WI is all about — fun and friendship.
“We have some craft tables set up in the middle this year too and have invited people to come and make a bookmark etcetera.
“There are some wonderful exhibits in here and the ladies have really outdone themselves. I want to say thank you to everyone who helped bring this together, it really is a collective effort.”
