ST BREWARD held an 'official start' to the major refurbishment work on the Institute and War Memorial Hall on Wednesday, January 16.

The work is being made possible by dona­tions from various sources. Rep­resentatives from the donors celebrated the occasion, including Linda Emmett from East Cornwall Local Action Group (ECLAG), Wendy Reading from SITA Cornwall Trust, Denis Lusby from the parish council and Dennis Champion, chair of the build committee.

ECLAG has donated £15,000, the local action group is part of the Local Action for Rural Communities Programme, a European Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) and DEFRA Programme, with Cornwall Development Company acting as the accountable body.
