LAUNCESTON Refugee Support Group held a ‘Welcome Feast’ on Saturday, October 26.

The event came after the group welcomed a refugee family to the town in the summer.

Held at Launceston Cricket Club on October 26, the ‘Welcome Feast’ was held to support the work of the support group, who have been fundraising to provide support to the refugee family who are now settled in Launceston. They have been guided by Bude Refugee Support Group and the two settled refugee families in the town.

Around 50 people came along to the event, enjoying traditional middle eastern dishes while catching up with friends and being able to support the group.

A spokesperson from Launceston Refugee Support Group said: “Many, many thanks to all our supporters, to our wonderful chefs, and especially to our family and our guests from Bude. Last night’s Welcome Feast was an outstanding success, and reflects the support and love there is for our cause. Thank you, everyone.”
