LAUNCESTON Community Fire Station held a recruitment evening on Tuesday, October 22.
Station officer Gary Chapman had not expected "a flood of people" to the evening, but was pleased with the few that did attend.
"We have some slots coming up next year," said Mr Chapman, "and I feel we will be able to fill them.
"It was a good evening, and we have new people on the books. But we didn't have any potential female firefighters attend. This is a job for men and women."
The evening was held to spread the word. Mr Chapman explained it was a "big commitment" but a job worth doing.
