THE Little Red Bus team is trying to recruit more volunteers to enable them to continue providing their vital transport service in Launceston.
Volunteers, through the Launceston Community Transport Partnership (LCTP), run the Little Red Bus. They provide a demand response service for people of all ages who do not have their own transport or would like to enjoy the facilities of the service.
John Ellison, secretary of the Launceston Community Transport Partnership, said: “We also have mid week pub lunches and many excursions to places of interest and regular trips to cities such as Truro. The buses are also available for private hire.
“We are at the weekly coffee morning every Tuesday at the Central Methodist Hall to take bookings for regular runs into town and also excursions.”
The Little Red Bus scheme’s success depends entirely on volunteers, both in the office and drivers. They currently have a part time manager but he requires the support of helpers to man the phones from 10am to noon, Monday to Friday.
If anyone is looking for a way to serve the community by giving an occasional few hours a week, they are asked to contact the Little Red Bus team.
There are a number of flyers posted and distributed in many villages and around the town with information about the service.
For more information visit their website www.littleredbus.org.uk or call 01566 777960 between 10am and noon, Monday to Friday.
They also have a Facebook page, for more information search ‘Little Red Bus Launceston’.
