DUE to the severe weather forecast for Friday and Saturday, Tintagel Castle with its new footbridge will now re-open on Sunday, August 11 rather than Friday, August 9.
Georgia Butters, English Heritage’s head of historic properties for Cornwall, said: “Tintagel Castle is in a very exposed coastal location, so for the safety of our visitors and staff whenever the wind reaches gale force 8, it is normal procedure for us to close access to the island side of Tintagel Castle. With winds forecast at that level and above for Friday and Saturday, we have taken the decision today to postpone the re-opening of the castle until Sunday. We will be contacting all Friday and Saturday’s ticket holders by email to rearrange their visit.”
Bookings for this Friday will be automatically transferred to the Sunday and booking for Saturday will be automatically transferred to the Monday at the same times. Those who can’t make the new dates will be able to arrange a refund or rebook.
The weather related cancellation of nearby Boardmasters music festival was announced this morning.
