RAY Hawkins of Holsworthy hung up his Remembrance Parade robe on November 14 after 25 years of fulfilling the role, due to health reasons.
Ray was called up to service on November 3, 1949 and served a number of years, as well as spending two years in Gibraltar.
He became a member of the Royal British Legion in 1975. Five years later he was asked to be treasurer and then parade master in 1985.
He recounted memorable times whilst being master of the parade, adding: "I have been very lucky in life."
On standing down from the post, he said: "Nothing will fail and it will carry on exactly the same. Life will go on exactly in Holsworthy.
"I have enjoyed every minute of it, even when it rained this year. If you can look back over years with no regrets then it is a good thing."
